Get Involved
There is no building.
Lily & Kin has no kennels and no facility. Every dog we take is alive because someone gave it a place to stay.
Foster
Foster caregivers are what we need most. Without them, we cannot say yes to the next dog.
You are not expected to be a trainer, a vet, or an expert. You are expected to keep the dog safe, tell us what you see, and call us when something is wrong (or right!).
What we provide
All veterinary care. A collar, tags and leash. Any prescription diet and any medication the dog needs. A crate on loan if you do not own one. We can supply food but are open to discuss. Treats and toys may be provided as well, depending on donations. If there is a special need that arises, call us.
What you provide
Bedding, bowls, poop bags, cleaning supplies, toys, treats, love.
How long a dog stays
Until the right family turns up. Puppies tend to move quickest; dogs undergoing medical treatment remain until they are well; adults, seniors and dogs with special needs can take longest. But there are more dogs than homes, so even these rules break.
What we can tell you is that we are working on it behind the scenes endlessly. The faster a dog moves to a home, the sooner we can help another.
Volunteer
Rescue is part logistics, and some logistics can be handled by people with time to give. These are things volunteers can do for us:
- Animal transportation. Entails moving a dog between a shelter, a vet, a foster home, an adoption event.
- Photography. A dog with good photos gets adopted faster than one with bad.
- Content Creation. Filming, editing, getting artistic with our dogs. Help keep our social accounts alive.
- Adoption events. Set up, take down. Handle a dog for a few hours; show them to the public.
- Fundraising. Organize something on behalf of Lily & Kin, or find someone who can.
- Networking. Spread the word. Connect us to foster caregivers, donors, local businesses looking to support our cause. Anyone who can help our dogs.
- Open to discussion. Genuinely. Tell us what you are good at and we will tell you whether we can use it.
Volunteers must be 18 or over.
Adopt
Adoption starts with a short note rather than a long form. Tell us which dog you like and a little about your home. We read it and call you. The full application comes after that, not before. A ten minute conversation answers more for both of us than any form.
Donate
A dog stays with us until the right family comes along, not until the money runs out. Donations make that true. They cover medical treatment, food, and the everyday costs of keeping a dog safe for however long the wait turns out to be.
Lily & Kin Animal Rescue is a recognized 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

This costs nothing and it works. If you can do nothing else, do this.
